Hi everyone—I decided to post a little earlier than usual today! Remember to click the “In partnership with Tony Robbins” above; this brings you directly to the “Tony Robbins” website and helps support my newsletter! There are three ads in this article, recognizable by their blue border; the Tony Robbins ad (shown above) an Allara ad, and a Deep View ad at the end of the article. Also, just to clarify, you do NOT have to sign up or do anything past clicking the ads.
“In some cases, tasks that are truly productive on the surface are still ultimately counterproductive…”
Let me explain:
Part 2: “The More Busy I Am, The More Productive I Am”
Besides simply filling our days with tasks that are “shallow” rather than deep – as represented by the to-do list in part 1 – there are three main reasons a day of hard work can be harmful and unproductive: diminishing returns, health risks, and the true psychology behind why we feel the need to be busy.
Diminishing returns is a concept/law that ultimately explains how as the amount of input (hours worked) increases, the output (the outcomes of your work) will decrease once a threshold is crossed. This threshold is recognized as approximately 50-55 hours of work per week, meaning someone who works 70 hours per week – for example – will likely accomplish the same amount as someone who works 50 hours a week. Hence, if you have 10 meaningful tasks per day but you spend the whole day working to complete each of them, your actual efficiency in completing those tasks will decrease throughout the week until you’re not actually gaining any significant accomplishment due to exhaustion.
What If You Didn't Have to Push Yourself Anymore?

Imagine waking up Monday being pulled out of bed — not needing to pushing yourself out of it.
That pull isn't motivation. It isn't willpower. It's what happens when Tony Robbins conditions a different identity into your nervous system. An identity doesn't wait, doesn't hesitate, doesn't negotiate with itself.
That's what Unleash the Power Within does. It’s not inspiration. It’s Conditioning. The patterns that keep you hesitating, shrinking, and circling the same problems — Tony interrupts them at the root and installs new ones. You don't leave motivated. You leave re-wired differently.
4 days. Virtual. March 12–15. 5 million people across 195 countries have done this. It’s your time.
Save $100 by getting a ticket before March 6th. After that the price goes up. But the real cost is another year pushing instead of being pulled.
Health risks, like diminishing returns, are just another side effect of overworking yourself. As I mentioned in the previous myth-busting article (“Sacrifice Now, Balance Later”) overworking – according to real studies by WHO – is linked to not just death by overwork (karoshi) but possibly an overwhelming number of diseases and conditions, including stroke, heart disease, silent brain injuries, early onset dementia, obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. If you developed one of these conditions because you prioritized being busy over fundamental human needs, not only would your long term goals be far more unattainable, but you would likely feel regretful that your hyper-focus on “productivity” destroyed what you were working towards – the ultimate reason why you were so preoccupied in the first place.
Feeling off lately? It could be your hormones.
Allara helps women understand the root cause of their hormonal or metabolic symptoms with a comprehensive care team that combines expert medical and nutrition guidance. Whether you're managing PCOS, fertility challenges, perimenopause, thyroid conditions, or unexplained symptoms, you'll get a personalized care plan backed by advanced diagnostic testing and ongoing support. This isn't about quick fixes. It's about getting clarity and feeling like yourself again, with care that's accessible virtually and covered by insurance.
Have you noticed how often the overworking theme recurs in any high-achiever mental block discussion? Why do you sometimes feel the need to be productive even when there’s no work to complete? This is due to the underlying root cause behind our need to be busy…and ultimately the fundamental driver behind the majority of instances that we overwork ourselves for the sake of being “productive”…
