“Why do you sometimes feel the need to be productive even when there’s no work to complete? This is due to the underlying root cause behind our need to be busy…and ultimately the fundamental driver behind the majority of instances that we overwork ourselves for the sake of being ‘productive’…”
-Part 2
So what is the significant cause behind our need to be busy? The answer is avoidance.
The Cozy Winter Ritual Behind My Energy and Glow ✨
Winter calls for rituals that actually make you feel amazing—and Pique’s Sun Goddess Matcha is mine. It delivers clean, focused energy with zero jitters, supports glowing skin and gentle detox, and feels deeply grounding on cold mornings. Smooth, ceremonial-grade, and crave-worthy, it’s the easiest way to start winter days clear, energized, and glowing from the inside out
Part 3: “The More Busy I Am, The More Productive I Am”
Imagine you break a bone in your right arm. You would likely receive a cast from the doctor and, logically, refrain from using the broken arm to avoid pain. In the short-term, this strategy couldn’t be more helpful for your overall health.
But as soon as your cast is removed a few months later, you’ll realize something: your right arm is significantly smaller and weaker than your left arm. This is called muscle atrophy.
Although that break from using your arm was needed, it directly harmed and lengthened the path to your ultimate goal: recovery.
Busyness often works the same way; we push ourselves to be “productive” because we want to temporarily avoid pain, whether that’s pain from processing anxiety or negative emotions or—most commonly—pain from feeling like we are inadequate. In your mind, busyness = being needed, being indispensable, & being “worthy” of life.
But, similar to the negative long-term effect of muscle atrophy, you are not actually placing yourself anywhere closer to your goals if the sole reason you're working is simply to be able to say “I’m busy.” You are too focused on what you don’t want to feel rather than what you are working towards. You are not being productive.
Your $200+ serum doesn't work. Stop pretending it does.
Expensive serums aren't required to prove efficacy. Just safety. You're funding marketing budgets. Celluma has clinical trials showing 66% wrinkle reduction in 30 days. FDA-cleared. Medical-grade wavelengths. Stimulates actual collagen production. The catch? Consistent use. Not glamorous. Just honest results you can measure.
Results vary. Consistent use required.
Let’s quickly illustrate this with a short anecdote:
Ella kept her color-coded calendar open on her laptop at all times. To her, any space in the schedule was a failure of demand, not a break.
She volunteered for every low-level committee, replied to emails within three minutes, and spent her nights posting her "3:00 AM grind" on social media. Her frantic pace felt like prestige. When colleagues asked how she was, she’d sigh and say something along the lines of "Good, but busy," wearing her exhaustion like a tailored suit. Ella felt essential because she was occupied, and to her, that surpassed any fatigue that plagued her.
But three years in, the high-status prestige seemed to fade. While Ella had become a master of the "immediate," she had brutally neglected the "important." Her dissertation, the actual contribution to her field, was saturated with shallow, insignificant observations. Ella had traded the deep, lonely silence required for a breakthrough for the loud, hollow validation of a full inbox. She was the most "productive" person in the department, yet she had nothing of substance to say.

Moral of the story: never occupy yourself just to be “busy.” This path, like Ella’s, will always lead to shallow, negligible tasks and accomplishments. Being productive doesn’t have to look like having no free time in your day; in fact, it shouldn’t.
If you want to truly work towards your goals and not towards temporary external validation or internal comfort, do it for the sake of truly reaching those goals—always have them in the forefront of your mind. And if you ever find yourself crowding your schedule to be “productive,” make sure you always assess why.
